What happened to Baldi Developer after the successful release? Three months later, mystman12 (his nickname) established Basically, Games! Currently, this small team includes just two people: Micah himself and his sister Cady. She composes soundtracks for the games they work on.
More games with Baldi
In 2018, Mystman12 started to promote the upcoming full version of Baldi’s Basics on Kickstarter. Development Build was presented next year as game footage. It aimed to give a general impression of what to expect.
The Baldi Kickstarter campaign was launched with the intention to collect $50,000. Eventually, it managed to accumulate over $60,000. All the backers had their rewards according to the amount of money they invested.
Description
Although Baldi’s Development Build Demo is just a footage video, it shows many interesting details. Levels and events on the map are generated randomly. This Baldis Basics Build allows the main character to hold up to 5 objects. Meanwhile, in the Classic version, you could only possess 3 items at a time.
When you gather notebooks, the special You Can Think Pad won’t appear. Instead, the collected objects are simply added to your arsenal or item counter.
The creator attached his avatar to some of the walls. Also, the hallways differ in texture compared to the Classic version. Every class door has a red sign on it that says “Door”. Other than that, you may observe white fog appearing randomly and accompanied by a song.
Recreation compiled by fans
It turned out the video preview wasn’t enough for Baldi’s adorers. They wanted a fresh piece of Baldi Basic to download on PC. However, it wasn’t available. As a result, we have a whole game based on Development Build. Fans used it to recreate their own game which looks as worthy as the original.
According to the author’s note, most of the details are recreated quite accurately. There are only a few insignificant differences to the authentic version.

Besides, there is even an easier option to get access to the game. The said website also provides an unblocked browser version which was introduced in 2022. However, there is one element that is missing in the work. If you launch the game online right in your browser, there won’t be subtitles. They were removed due to creating unnecessary glitches. For most users, it shouldn’t be a big deal though.

Moving around is possible through the common set of keys: W, A, S, D. If you want to run, apply Shift. Do right-click on your mouse to collect objects. Also, you can instantly quit the game by using the Alt+F4 combination.

Development progress
Mystman12 didn’t limit himself to just one gameplay footage. In May 2019, he released the second preview. It displayed the field trips which are, basically, side quests with extra items to accumulate. Baldi shows up as an NPC who is programmed to pursue the player.
Five days later, the developer posted more pieces of fresh footage of the Plus version. Fans could witness a new character called Playtime chasing the player along the hallway. However, as you enter the room, she would turn around and go away. It was the second NPC after Baldi that was added during the game’s development. Her appearance looks especially sloppy, even exceeding the quality of other characters. This little girl added some fun to the playing process. However, at times, she could be an obstacle.
In June of the same year, the game’s page on Kickstarter had an important update. It presented a full set of characters from the Classic version. It was said that in the Plus variation, their original behavior will be somewhat altered.
In a few days, mystman12 shared several fresh screenshots through his Twitter account. They displayed a funny glitch: the tables were clipped through the textures in all directions. They got stuck to the walls and ceilings, occupying the most unexpected places. The malfunction was fixed in a while.
In July, there was another update on Kickstarter. The developer was going to drop two demo versions. One of them was supposed to be an exclusive privilege of his Kickstarter supporters. The other one was to be released publicly.
There were also a few screenshots posted on the page that day. They showed new arrangements and random events. The schoolhouse suffered from flooding. On the outside, a merry-go-round was settled. Besides, the fences had a button. Altogether, it looked like a playground. Also, users could notice a swinging door with a bright-red button on it. Behind it stood Baldi with a text message “25 ¢ PUSH TO REJECT”.
